When you first open an application such as MacWrite™, the program conveniently provides you with an blank “Untitled” document so that you may begin typing immediatlely without having to fiddle with the mouse. This is very convenient except for one thing: the font you begin typing with is chosen for you: Geneva.
Many users of Alderney have expressed interest in having Alderney be the font which applications first use, so under the FILE menu is the Make Alderney Default command which will do just that. This means that no matter what disk you start up with, applications will use Alderney first instead of Geneva. This is very convenient if Alderney is your “main” font, and even more convenient with a hard drive.
Please note that if Alderney is not present on one of the disks you start up with, Chicago will be used as a substitute. Also, if you would like to have Geneva reverted to the default application font, as it is called, simply select Make Geneva Default from the FILE menu.
